"The 2009 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico is a beautiful, “international” rendition that shows the soft and supple side of Amarone with loads of ripe fruit sweetness. You don’t find the thorny notes of oxidation you sometimes get with Amarone. This expression opens with an inky, impenetrable appearance and shows lingering notes of exotic spice, smoked bacon, grilled herb and blackberry preserves. Drink 2015-2025."
92 Punkte gab der Wine Spectator, in der Ausgabe vom 15. Dezember 2013, dem Allegrini Amarone 2009 und beschrieb ihn folgendermaßen: "Harmonious, with depth to the layers of ferrous mineral, pure black cherry, anise, aromatic tea leaf and herb notes, showing a sense of overall finesse to the frame of fine-grained tannins and lightly juicy acidity. Drink now through 2028. 10,400 cases made."–AN
Die China Wine Challenge 2011 prämierte den Allegrini Amarone 2007 als "Best Old World Red Wine".
„The 2006 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico is the finest young vintage I have ever tasted of this wine. The 2006 is a beautifully balanced Amarone with great intensity in its dark fruit and the accompanying structure to support many years of cellaring. Hints of smoke, tar, licorice and incense linger on the tightly wound finish. The freshness, clarity and vibrancy are first-class. This is an exquisite Amarone from Allegrini. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2026.“
“Allegrini, Amarone 2006 Valpolicella Classico 17.5+ Drink 2014-24 15.5%
Corvina, Rondinella, Oseleta. Aged in 100% new barriques. Opaque, impenetrably dark ruby with violet tinges. Very youthful, modern nose, perhaps with a touch more oak than 2004. Unapproachable, really, and hasn't developed any tertiary aromas at all. Very sweet, dark fruit and lots of concentration on the palate, but closes up swiftly. Great acidic impact on the finish. Ends on bitter laurel and dark cherry, but really too young to broach. (WS) 15.5%
Allegrini produces some 120,000 bottles a year of their Amarone Classico. The grapes are dried in a state-of-the-art, if not very glitzy, drying room, constructed in 1997 and shared with Campagnola, Speri, Brigaldara and Corte Forte. The drying room, according to Paolo Mascanzoni (pictured above with Silvia Allegrini in front of the Renaissance fireplace), director of production, reduces the risk of mould attacking the drying grapes , which can happen during humid autumns and winters, and which is why most of the time their Amarone is squeaky clean (for some perhaps too clean) as theappasitocharacter is not very dominant in the final wine.
The wine is fermented in stainless steel but without temperature control, for which there is no need, as the dried grapes enter the fermentation tanks at 4-5 ºC. At a later stage the must is inoculated with cultured yeast to prevent a stuck ferment. About a week into the fermentation, the wine, which at this stage still has some 20 g/l residual sugar, is racked to 100% new, medium-toast barriques where it finishes the fermentation. The reason for racking the still-fermenting wine into new casks is to prevent too big an impact of the new oak. Malolactic fermentation normally follows immediately after the alcoholic fermentation but this depends on the year, too. The drying orappasito process reduces the malic acid in the grapes, and in some years there is hardly is any malic acid present in the juice.”
Antonio Galloni veröffentliche folgende Beschreibung in eRobertParker.com #185 Oct 2009
"The 2005 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico is a big, fat, super-ripe wine boasting tons of richness in its dark fruit, spices and chocolate. Despite its concentration, this medium-bodied Amarone remains the product of an average harvest and the wine’s modest structure can’t quite measure up to the 100% new French oak. As always, Allegrini makes one of the more accessible Amarones readers are likely to encounter. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2020. "
