“The only Saar representative impresses with some fine mineral notes and ripe pear fruit, just off-dry, with the substance only old vines pack, all about minerality in the long run. (MS)”
David Schildknecht verkostete den Riesling Alte Reben Saar 2008 von Markus Molitor für Robert Parkers The Wine Advocat Nr.187 vom Februar 2010 und gab 90/100 Punkte und folgende Beschreibung:
"From ancient vines in the Niedermenniger Herrenberg – which this year, Molitor did not harvest until past mid-November – his 2008 Riesling Alte Reben Saar smells pungently of lemon oil, rowan, orange blossom, wood smoke, and ocean breeze. In the mouth, nut oil richness is complimented by persistently wafting floral and smoky elements as well as by a silken texture. This finishes with invigorating citricity and salinity but at the same time a hint of honey added to the wine’s deep nuttiness conveys near-opulence. I would expect this versatile, dry-tasting Riesling to perform well for at least half a dozen years. Incidentally, additional excellent wines from this site – including from old vines adjoining Molitor’s – are reviewed by me each year in my coverage of Erich Weber’s Falkensteiner Hof."
